Data Entry: The Saga Continues

Happy New Years.

This is one of the final updates I will be making this year. I have a site update you can check out here that goes over everything I’ve accomplish this year and what I plan to do next year. For this update, I will just go over what I’ve done in the past week.

Well, this past week hasn’t been very eventful, for you see, data entry is quite a boring subject. My goal was to complete the input of all the story portion of the data before the end of the year. I estimated I wouldn’t be able to make it in time and sure enough, I didn’t. Estimations are quite accurate it seems.

What I’ve completed is about 75% of the story data so far. This is actually really good since it puts me right where I expected to be around this time. My main goal was to get to the battle and exploration by this point and I will be at that point some time starting next week.

Battle and exploration will take a great deal of time to complete but I will be working diligently to get it done within my personal time limit for this game’s release.

It has only been recently with the start of the data entry had I been back into the game engine. Not a whole lot has changed since the last video but I have made a few changes you will notice. Check out the screenshot below.

There are quite a few new things in the screenshot. In the dialogue box I added key icons to show you which buttons you can use to accelerate the dialogue. (I use it all the time for obvious reasons) In the top right, I added a GUI to show you the date while you’re exploring the city. Lastly, we have a new character and location I’ve never shown before. Who is she? She’s one of the job characters your daughter will work with. As you can see by the date, this event takes place very early in the game. (Year 788 is the first game year)

For the next week I will finish the input of the story dialogue and begin inputting all the battles and maps. My goal for the foreseeable future is to input everything I have written down. Once I accomplish that, I will technically have a fully playable game. But sadly, I am still missing at least 10%-20% of side content that needs to be done. I will worry about that after I complete the battle and map input.

Even with ALL THAT said, I haven’t and will not be testing any of this until I finish the battle and map input. Testing this game will suck immensely but I need to get through this if I want to achieve my release window.
