The game testing continues. So far, I’m about 20 hours into the game. This isn’t a accurate representation of what you can expect since I spend a lot of time checking the game for bugs, but it’s pretty damn close. The image below is my last save date.

I would’ve been further alone but I ended up taking a few days off. I’ll pick things up again once the next week starts.

This is my first time playing through the second year of the game and I’m getting hit with all kinds of lovely bugs. The good news is, most of them were simple mistakes, but some of them were game stopping.

Right now, my biggest concern is game balance. I’m worried I might’ve made the game too easy (therefore, boring) or too hard (therefore, impossible). When it comes to managing the daughter, I’m trying to find the perfect balance between spending money and controlling her Mood and Condition. If I make too much money available to the player, there will be almost no challenge in keeping her stats high. But if I include too much negative reinforcement, it could become overly difficult to manage the stats.

As far as the battle goes, I’m trying to introduce a challenge without making the worst case scenario impossible. The video below show cases the second boss battle. This is a representation of one of the best case scenarios when completing this battle.

I also tested the battle under the worst case scenario and it was a bit more difficult, but not impossible. I can’t make these early battles too difficult, but I want to introduce some uniqueness to the enemies, so if I have some time I might go back and make some adjustments.

When I first arrived to the second boss battle, I realized that I might have made the Bonus Potions and some Talents too powerful. So I adjusted the values and put some limits in place. What you see in the above video is the results. Believe me, it was much worse than that. It was to the point where that boss felt like a regular mob battle.

I’m going to continue making adjustments I feel are necessary so that the game is fully balanced.

That’s all I have for this week. Stay well everyone.
