Old games/projects that never had a chance.
By Dre | January 9, 2009
Sigh, so many ideas, so little inspiration. What do I speak of you ask? Why, my old games and/or projects I started on but never completed! Oh!! That’s right! You’ve never actually seen or heard of it because I’ve never publicly released information about them! Well, wonder no more for I have decided to show you all my past games/projects I started but never completed in the order of most completed to not even touch after thought of.(this is going to be quite the long post so grab some pop corn and orange soda)

Game Title: Vigilante
Type: Dating Sim
Year started: Sometime in 2005
Software used: Macromeadia Flash
The story centered around a reporter by the name of Neo who finally got his big break when he was offered to spend 5 weeks in the shoes of the new detective agency Vigilante which happen to have a all girl cast of employee’s. You start out spending time with all the girls to get a taste for them, then by the middle of the game you would get to choose who you want to spend the remainder of the weeks with.(you can fill in the rest with your imagination)
This game never took off for three reasons. One, I completely lost interest. Two, I wasn’t very skilled with flash at the time and had a very hard time getting away with basic functions. Finally three, the story line I had written out was atrocious. I mean, it really sucked. I couldn’t pick this project back up even if I wanted too, but it is the most completed of the list. Here are some pix’s!!!!

This next project had good intentions. It was going to be completed in a month with bells and whistles and whistling bells and the whole nine yards.

Game Title: The Last Notion
Type: Dating Sim
Year started: Sometime in 2006
Software used: Renp’y
The story goes, you are a Jr in high school who happens to be madly in love with this girl.(the one in the picture above) The only thing you know about her is what her friends tell you. She is completely shy and seems to have no interest in anything. Due to your total lack of confidence, you never talk to her. So over the summer you decided at the beginning of your senior year you will talk to her!!! On the first day back you see her and quickly walk up to her. As you begin to speak you quickly notice her change in appearance. You find out that over the summer you weren’t the only one that made a life changing decision. She decided she wanted to be a musician, more specifically, a rapper. Aaaanndddd the story goes on somewhere from there.
I never completed this game for two reasons. One, I lost interest. Well, more like I was completely interested in something else.(I believe this was in the golden days of my soul sucking MMORPG addiction) Two, the story was good but I had no idea how to execute it in under a month. I doubt I’ll be coming back to this, but you never know!(nah, I won’t)

Now this next project is awesome!!! Well, it was going to be. Heck it still is!

Game Title: Shit Happens
Type: Visual Novel
Year started: Sometime in 2007
Software used: Renp’y
The game plays out in episodes stretching from a few events to just a few punch lines. It doesn’t really have much of a consistent story line, think something along the lines of
The reason I like this game idea so much is because I could work on and off it just creating episodes until I felt the game was completed. And I really thought of some funny shit happening to this poor soul. The sole reason I never completed this game, or even got one episodes done, was because I was lazy.(and still very addicted to MMOs) There is a good chance I will pick this up again in the future, I still love the idea. Unfortunately, (for you) I do not have any of the concept work scanned.
Game Title: Track Star
Type: Arcade-ish Sport
Year started: Sometime in 2008
Software used: Flash
So early in 2008 I felt horrible guilt for deserting my site for so long and wanted to make up with something grand. Track Star was my beaker of hope for it was an awesome idea. Using the left and right directional buttons on the key board, the player would race against 3 other AI players over a series of tracks with other elements in the works I can’t think of at the moment.
There are two reasons this was never completed. One, I lost interest. Two, the flash programming for this was getting way over my head. What appeared simple at first glance, was a nightmare in disguise. I doubt I will come back to this game but if you feel you have all the answers to making this game a reality give me a e-mail and maybe we can work something out. In the mean time, here is the shitty test beta if your curiosity is getting the best of you.
Game Title: Cube
Type: Arcade
Year started: Sometime in 2008
Software used: Flash
So after Track Star failed, I needed a new idea. Something that was simple, easy to program and still kick ass in the originality department. Cube actually wasn’t the name of this project, it was just a place holder. You can see how far I got with this idea. The object of the game is to gain points by keeping the ball in between 4 paddle arranged like a cube. You will understand better if you play the beta below. The paddles were meant to randomly change colors from grey (normal) to red (speed up) to blue (slow down) and I had other elements I planed to input but never did. The only good thing about this project is that it was the basic ground work for
Two reason this was never completed! One, l lost a lot of interest! Two, it pissed me off greatly because I couldn’t get the basic idea to work. Again, if your a flash wizard and feel you know the answers to my shitty projects, don’t hesitate to give me a e-mail.

Game Title: Alkaloid Delphinine
Type: Vertical Shooter
Year started: Sometime in 2008
Software used: Game Maker
Riding on the new fount inspiration of my friend getting into Dev’ry to get a degree in game programming, we started on a joint project with me as the director. This resulted in two games, his idea and mines which was titled Alkaloid Delphinine. The story goes, you wake up to find that your parents have been brutally killed by what seems to be a mad man. You quickly discover that your city has been taken over by the undead. The cause? A new deadly plant which infects anyone who touches it with a mutation of Alkaloid Delphinine. You and a lady friend you meet later on in the game seems to be the only ones who are immune. You fight through hurls of infected to find out the truth behind the outbreak.
There are a few reasons to why this never got off the ground. One, we are both lazy. Bad, bad, bad combination. Two, this was an ambitious idea. I wanted something like 100 stages.(lol) Three, I lost inspiration. (that with lazy = total loss of game) I still want to make a vertical shooter one of these days.(they are so fun ^^) I have nothing else to show on this game, the concept work I did do was never scanned.(and I don’t plan to do so)
Lastly, we come to the oldest, most procrastinated, and most ambitious game I never completed.

Game Title: Atlus
Type: RPG
Year started: Sometime in 2002 (daaammmmmmnnnnnnn)
Software used: Sphere(a rpgmaker base on java) // Rpgmaker 2000 // Currently Rpgmaker Xp
My current idea for this game is COMPLETELY different from the original idea, but since it’s still in the brain storming phase, I will talk about the original Atlus.(which was made using a old, old version of
This game takes place in the far, far, far future. Around the year 23,000. The world is completely diffrent, in which the US is the most leading in all resoures and things. How leading you say, well the US own the hole universe. A theory thats says the universe repeats itself can’t be proven because humans have in-cave there selfs onto the earth. A dark and empty universe with only earth left. It starts off with a boy named Lo Lo trying to speak to a girl in hope of geting a date. Little does he know that there is a sniper planing to destroy the city that he is in. In his high point of his game, he notice the sniper in the distance and makes a run for it. In staying by the beach, he makes it to the sea and is fount by a fishermans crew, thats where the story begains.
Wow, how ignorant of me to say the US will own the whole universe in the future. And there are so many things scientifically wrong with this story it would cause a astronomers to flip. Oh well, this game was actually moving pretty smoothly until I lost interest.(I’m guessing because of the shitty story, yep, it MUST be) Also the game was stupidly ambitious. I was creating all the sprites, tiles, music, and animation. At some point in my past I made a completely different game also named Atlus using

Now as I mentioned earlier, I do have a more up to date and more awesome idea for Atlus that has damn near nothing to do with the original story. I’ll just say this, the theme deals with alternate universes and free roam status. The only maker I know that can give me the results my picky mind desires is
Well, whatever I decided to do with it in the future, it will be grand. That’s pretty much all the projects I started but never completed. Wow! That was a lot of work. Here’s to more projects never to be completed in the future!
Oh wait that’s not right……
