Oh, most important reason, I don’t want to pay @ ALL. Especially for windows 7 ultimate, i have vista ultimate

Microsoft seems to be giving it out almost free. My school was lending out copies so I just used that.

1. Files, don’t want to lose files

If you have windows vista you won't lose a thing. If you have XP and below it will simply save everything in a folder called Old Files or something like that.

2. Installed programs, don’t want to lose not one program. I know most work, but I know there will be that one I love that’ll seep through the cracks

I'm not 100% sure on compatibility but things have been going great for me so far. I was expecting some serious problems from not only going Xp to windows 7 but doing so with the 64bit version. So far I haven't ran into anything that has bothered me. To my knowledge, drivers are the main thing that can't be properly carried over and have to be redone between windows versions.

3. Configurations, there are SOOO many custom things I did for vista & I’m sure I’ll have to for 7.

Probable, I truly can't say for certain since I went from Xp to 7.

HP HDX16T

CPU T9600 – 2.8ghz
RAM – 4 Gigs
Nvidia 9600gtm
1366*768 resolution
blu-ray

Is that a laptop?

Well, I remember when vista came out, I didn't really feel any happiness or any emotions in general. I really didn't for XP either, but you gotta admit, XP is oodles more stable than vista's crap. In fact, I have similar specs:

HP HDX16T

CPU T9600 - 2.8ghz
RAM - 4 Gigs
Nvidia 9600gtm
1366*768 resolution
blu-ray

But I would upgrade, but I'm scared about a couple things:
