    Goodbye to an old friend

    Dre

    By Dre | October 8, 2009

On October 26 of 2009, Yahoo! GeoCities will be closing down for good. This isn’t surprising considering how horrible of a free service it was especially coming from Yahoo!; the reason I’m bringing it up now is because it is where my web building adventure all began.

Back in about 2001-2002 I started an extremely amateur website under the name of http://www.geocities.com/dre788/ titled Dre Animation. (no, I didn’t actually do any animation, it’s was just a poorly chosen name) This actually wasn’t my very first attempt at web making. Prior to that I made a page completely dedicated to Dragon Ball, which happened to also host some of my drawings.(which of course were completely dragon ball fanart)

Things were simpler back then. I was just excited I created something that contributed to the growing online sensation. It actually wasn’t until I released my flash game DenSI (which happened some time in 2003) which resulted in me getting more than just 10-15 people a month.( I don’t know the real number rate because I didn’t keep track of it but the image below should give you an idea of how things turned around)

Following a few months after was the critically acclaimed DenSI 2. A longer and much more annoying flash game.

Look forward to seeing her again real soon…

Simply thanks to these 2 games alone I was able to get this site known to some degree. In 2004 I changed host service from geocities to angletowns(which doesn’t exist anymore ironically) and changed my site name(unofficially at the time) to Allugic.

Thank you geocities, you showed me how simple it was to put together a website. You gave me a free passage way to the web which allowed me to set the foundation for which would become the Allugic empire.

    I salute you.

Now die already you piece of shit.
