    Do you like tomboys? I have a project in mind…

    So for a while now I’ve had this idea of creating a series of images either in book form or digital solely base on tomboy-ish ladies. Admittedly, I have a bit of a weakness for tomboys and it actually shows through a lot of my work.(Miss Janitor anyone?) For those of you who have no idea of what I’m talking about, here’s the Wiki definition:

    Tomboy is a girl who behaves according to the gender role of a boy.

    This social phenomenon typically manifests itself through some of these characteristics:

    * The wearing of typically masculine-oriented types of clothes.
    * The practice of games and activities (often physical in nature) that are typically considered to be the domain of boys.
    * Heterosociality, the preference to befriend boys rather than other girls.


    If the words of wiki sound blasphemy and pictures speak louder than words for you then a picture example would be Sakura from Street Fighter:

    When considering a project such as this, a few questions will arise. I’ll list them and answer them to the best of my current conviction.

    1. Will the cast be fan base or original?
    This I do not know. Based on the direction I take this project, I may go fanart, original, or hybrid. Either decisions does not bother me, what do you consider?

    2. Will it be adult targeted(18+), ecchi(14+), or fun for the whole family(1+)?
    Um…………………………….the decision is setting on ecchi so far but I wouldn’t mind going 18+.

    3. Will this be free?
    A long no. But, I am thinking of releasing samples here and there to show you what to expect. Heck, you could even request to have something in there if you think it’s a great idea.

    4. How will this be released?
    I know of 3 way’s this could be done:
    1. Through Cafepress.com. I already have a account with them and setting up a book to sell is actually very easy. The only problem(s) is they don’t like copywrite infringement very much and I’m not sure of what’s their policy on adult material.
    2. I sell it through dlsite.com. These guys are very lose on adult content but a bit vague and hypocritical on their views of copywrite material. Also, this method of selling is through digital download. Very instant and dependable but very easy to pirate.(one should not pirate a pirate :(…….)
    3. Lastly, I sale it through me. I set up a shopping cart (freely I might add) and sell it via digital download. The same problems still apply except I’m sure as hell I won’t be able to do fanart and too scared to risk it any ways.

    Of course I could always just dismiss the whole selling thing and give it out for free but nowadays I’m way too poor and jobless to be that generous. *sigh* So many decisions, I’m not sure what’s the right course, or even if I should do this at all. What do you think? I could really use some feed back on this project.

      Now this sounds like an interesting project. Original characters would be nice, but fanart would be great too ^^

      Yeah, unless someone else comes to me and request other wise because they feel it was their destiny to contribute to this project I don’t see it going further than my work.

      well i don’t think there can ever have anuff tomboys in anime. since i have hard times finding any best tomboy example, i have found was Demashita! PowerPuff Girls Z buttercup ,but anyway love your idea a good concept.

      ps Sango from Inuyasha is not really a tomboy btw shes more of a female fighter/girly girl. i know what im talking about i seen anuff of inuyasha to know. if she was really a tomboy she would not like to wear dress/skirt and wouldn’t be wearing any makeup.

      i forgot to add tomboy is not a sexual preference its a way of presenting ones self and style

      i also forgot to add sorry this is my last one there are many different types of tomboys heres a list

      Girly Tomboys: girls that look like tomboys but are actually quite girly

      Boy Tomboys: girls that look and act like boys

      Girl Tomboys: girls that look girly but act quite tough

      Neutral tomboys: A mix of both girl and boy behaviour but absolutely dresses boy-ish

      Your right, Sango isn’t a straight up black and white example of a tomboy. But she does have tendency’s to act non girlish. So I figure I’d use her as an example.(that and I didn’t have any other fanarts to use)

      Great list btw, I’ve just been going off my instinct of whom a tomboy would be. That list breaks it down quite well.

      Hi I am a 16 year old boy tomboy and would really like to help with this project ^^ I haven’t really found any good animes with full blown tomboys like Demashita! PowerPuff Girls Z buttercup and your project sounds really good. I am into drawing anime and manga and my friends say I’m good at it :) so I would really appreciate it if you would let me help :)
