    New Years Resolution……Kinda

    Wednesday, December 31st, 2008

Ugh, my glorious plan to have a new years image completed before 2009 has been ruined! For a whopping 24 hour, more or less, I was sick. Starting from the time I finished the pencil sketch of the image til now, I’ve had liquids coming out of both my mouth and my ass.(think about THAT disturbing image) Oh man, it sucked so much. I spent most of my time sleeping and drinking water. I didn’t even know I could sleep that much. All I could really think about was when I could get started on coloring this damn image.

Well, I’m okay as far as I can tell now. Even though I’m sure I won’t be able to make the update before midnight, I won’t give up. In the mean time, I’m going to list some new year resolutions that I hope to achieve……….or not, I’m not making any promises here.

    1. Continue updating Allugic (I know this should be a given, but I have had problems with leaving my site all together for a stupid reason or another :/ )
    2. Draw more backgrounds with my random character (I’ve avoided this for far too long XD )
    3. Get more exposure for my site (Well you know, just a few more people…………who am I kidding, I want thousands of more visitors!! I DESERVE IT!! GIVE EM TO ME DAMN IT!!!?@$#)
    4. Don’t procrastinate! (Even though we are such great friends)
    5. Draw more landscapes/backgrounds! (yeah I know I mentioned this already, but I’m serious!! How can I be so hesitant to draw something I love to look at??!?!)
    6. Go to japan (eh, it’s a long shot, but not impossible)

That’s all I could think of at the moment. I’m going to end it here in hopes of getting the image done before midnight. If I don’t then let this be the last message of 2008.

2008 started out just as bleh as 2007. My shitty job took most of my day time and the only thing I had going for me was my one morning collage class. It wasn’t until I decided to quite my job mid 08 resulting in my complete refocus of my priorities from work and live to school and live. Also at this time, the original host of my site seem to have completely shut down. Resulting in my site doing so as well. At this point I figure it was time for change, it was time for me to get serious about my passion.(again) So I changed my host, changed my site, and changed my approach to how I originally ran my site. The results have been sensational. Never before have I had this many views over the course of a month. As a matter of fact, just in the past 2 months, I’ve been getting double the numbers and even 4x the numbers I normally got pre mid 08.

Well, I just want to say, thank you. Thanks to everyone who continues to return as I have great things plan for 09 and I hope you will be there to witness them.

Later dayz everybody, and happy new years!

    Hideaki Anno Daicon IV

    Saturday, December 27th, 2008

Yes, it’s another stroll down the “random” alley. This time it’s a stop at our favorite time waster youtube. I present to you an anime classic that I unfortunately just discovered myself but fell completely in love with it. Since I’m not too familiar with the background of the video on trail, I will just quote like I’ve never quoted before.

Japan SF Convention 1983 in Osaka (Daicon IV) opening animation by Daicon Film (indie of university, origin of Gainax). Warrior is Clarisse d’Cagliostro, and Japanese legendary work like Lupin III: The Castle of Cagliostro (by Hayao Miyazaki). Original of Japanese famous TV drama Densha Otoko (Train Man) title sequence animation; remake edition by staff of those days.

So basicly, it is a music video using the song Twilight by Electric Light Orchestra which was completed for the anime convention Daicon by 4 guys who would eventually create the animation company Gainax. Despite the year this animation was completed in, it is VERY well done and very addicting to watch. But don’t let my word convince you, just take a look for yourself!!

And if that wasn’t enough, the hit j-drama Densha Otoko (or Train Man) has an opening that gives homage to Daicon IV. Although it was done by Gonzo and doesn’t have the same spark as the original, it’s still nice to look at.

Why don’t we go to the end of the road?

    Saturday, December 27th, 2008

And yes, that is a boys2men quote.

This is a random sketch completed with the online paint tool Sumo Paint. It’s very similar to photoshop expect it lacks certain features and shortcuts that makes it a bit laborious. I also ran into the problems here and there but nothing I couldn’t over come. Give it a try and tell me what you think. It’s a good way to learn how photoshop works without actually going out to buy the program itself.

    Commission: Pixie Lady!

    Thursday, December 25th, 2008

OOOOOOOMMMG, this post is making history in the Allugic domain. This is officially my first paid commission. That’s right, I got paid to do what I love.

    *starts to cry rivers* So……happy………..

The requester ask for an anime version of his wife as a pixie. Besides from a few small detail requests, the image was all ball game for me. i had fun with the image and it only took me the day before Christmas to color it all. lol

You too can request commissions! It’s all in the request/commission page! Knock yourself out!!!

    Cross Returns!

    Monday, December 22nd, 2008

This is a remake of a very old character I created named Cross. Older images can be fount below if you want to compare.

    Second Drawing
    First Drawing

I tried to be very……um….how do you say……..abstract with this image. It ended up being a victim of one of my many experiments. The drawing it self was a pain though. For some reason I’m finding it very difficult to re draw my old images. Is it because my style is changing? Or is it because I’m getting worst at drawing? Hum….not sure, not sure.

    Ugh, and it’s still winter…

    Wednesday, December 17th, 2008

So as I sit here on this winter day, wondering if my hand will ever be numb less enough to pick up a pencil any time soon.

Uggghhhhhhhhh, I hate winter. Even more so due to my situation. (no in door air circulation, no money to buy heater, no money to support huge electric bill = shit out of luck)

But it’s okay, my spirit is still high. Even though I’m like a brick in water when it comes to cold weather, I’ve manage to entertain myself with video games. Now I know this is no excuse for my laziness and I plan to man up as much as I can and get shit done asap. So in the mean time, I figure I might as well inform you guest and anon as to what games are taking most of my time nowadays.
